Our strategy

Our strategic plan, published in January 2024, sets out the priorities that guide Canadian Blood Services as we work in partnership with Canada’s health systems to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. Having a clear plan allows us to operate with agility in a dynamic, often uncertain environment. And it helps us support and encourage the talented, dedicated people across our organization who make change possible. 

Our strategic plan is a living strategy that evolves as the world around us evolves. Based on developments in the external environment and our experience over the past two years, we have made some targeted updates to our strategy, creating a sharper focus on a few critical areas.

We have simplified and clarified our strategic priorities to make it easier to align work across the organization and to focus on what matters most.  Our priorities are now organized into three core strategic priorities, which define what we must deliver, and three enabling priorities, which support that delivery. 

The updates to our strategic plan ensure we can meet today’s needs and also respond to what comes next with the scale and speed that people in Canada expect from us.
