Baby Maya is the cord blood donor

When I discovered the option to donate cord blood, there were no second thoughts and I instantly made my decision during the second trimester of my pregnancy. I have had sudden, intense and rare health challenges in the last five years such as unprovoked three episodes of cerebral venous thrombosis, Cushing's syndrome and miscarriage due to Cushing's syndrome. I understand the importance of a thorough medical system such as The Ottawa Hospital and would do whatever I am able to, to show my gratefulness so that someone else can lead a better life through better drugs, diagnostic procedures, etc.

I wanted my baby girl Maya to participate in my belief and I decided I would donate the cord blood to show how incredibly thankful we are to everyone, especially the medical team at The Ottawa Hospital.
