I'm a regular blood donor. I was too afraid to donate - until - my daughter's life was saved several times by blood donations. She had a routine blood test at age 16 which showed she was in imminent danger of dying due to blood loss. I was phoned at 1:00 AM that night by a doctor who said to take her to the hospital immediately for blood transfusions. Later we learned she has Crohn's Disease. Over the next years, she required more life-saving blood donations. Now she is stable and being looked after by a gastroenterologist. In gratitude, I wanted to give back that blood, that life-saving blood, and I became a regular donor. Honestly, it doesn't hurt, and I feel fine and normal afterward. I truly look forward to every blood donor clinic. I come well hydrated and eat a salty snack beforehand. Staff are excellent and pleasant. The atmosphere is always safe and cheery.
