The Haines Mile Pub is a Saskatoon local family owned and operated business established in 2021. The Sutherland family, who own the business, are all about customer service and giving back to the community.  Blood donation is a cause very close to the Sutherlands’ heart.

Ryan Sutherland suffered from supraventricular tachycardia and started having multiple heart surgeries at the age of 17. He underwent surgeries and heart ablations in 2009, 2010 and in 2020 that required blood. He is grateful to blood donors who rolled up their sleeves to save his life.

He now has a thriving business and a loving family. Ryan and his beautiful wife, Desiree, were blessed with two children, Hendrix and Atlin Miles.  The Haines Mile Pub joined Canadian Blood Services partnership program this summer to help raise awareness on the importance of blood donation and encourage staff and patrons to become donors.

As a way to inspire customers to donate blood, the pub's staff wore t-shirts from Canadian Blood Services, displayed signage throughout the restaurant with instructions on joining its Partners for Life team andgave out postcards with donor center information with every customer receipt. They also posted videos bi-weekly to their social media channels, informing followers of open appointments in Saskatoon.

Always looking for more ways to engage and be part of Canada’s Lifeline, Haines Mile Pub also hosted a Parking Lot Party in September and invited Canadian Blood Services to participate and share the ongoing need for blood products with the community. Ryan and Haines Mile Pub also held a 50/50 draw and donated half of the proceeds to further support the work of Canadian Blood Services!

Our local partners such as Haines Mile Pub, who continue to give back to our community, are helping save patient lives here at home.
