Brief biography
Dr. Manu Thomas Kalathottukaren is a scientist with experience in blood science, bioengineering, assay, and product development. Dr. Kalathottukaren received his PhD in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine from the University of British Columbia. Dr. Kalathottukaren also holds a bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences, and a master’s in pharmaceutical chemistry from the MGR Medical University, Chennai, India. After completing his doctoral and post-doctoral studies at UBC, Dr. Kalathottukaren worked in the Canadian biotech industry until he joined Canadian Blood Services as a development scientist, based at Canadian Blood Services netCAD Blood4Research facility in Vancouver and embedded in the Product and Process Development group. His current role focuses on optimizing blood products and processes and introducing novel, safe, effective, high-quality blood transfusion products for Canadian patients.
